What you learn in a flamenco guitar class
Flamenco guitar has two crafts: solo toque —falsetas, rasgueo, picado, alzapúa, trémolo— and accompaniment to singing and dance, which requires knowing the palos and their rhythms. Ask each school how much weight it gives to each one.
Small group or private class
At the schools in this directory, guitar is taught in small groups or private classes, which is what allows correcting the picking hand. Some Spanish-language schools offer flamenco guitar combined with the language, by the week, and rent a guitar to anyone who doesn't bring their own.
If you already play another kind of guitar
Anyone coming from classical or electric guitar usually joins at an intermediate level and focuses on compás and flamenco-specific technique. Tell the school in the form: some organise their groups exactly this way.
