Carmen de las Cuevas
Information about Carmen de las Cuevas
Carmen de las Cuevas has been teaching flamenco and Spanish in Granada since 1984, in a cave house between the Albaicín and the Sacromonte, and dance classes are held in caves in the Sacromonte itself. It's one of the few schools in the city with all three disciplines: dance, flamenco singing and guitar, as well as cajón and compás (palmas).
It runs by the week, starting any Monday: the singing course is six weekly classes with no previous level required, with cantaores such as Jacob de Carmen or Juan Pinilla, and guitar is taught in groups of up to eight students, at two levels. Groups are capped at twelve, there's an improvisation session ("Flamenco Jam") every two weeks, and it also offers online classes. It's taught in Spanish and English.
