Escuela José de la Vega
Information about Escuela José de la Vega
Escuela José de la Vega has been in Barcelona for more than 50 years: founded by José de la Vega in 1975, first on Calle Enrique Granados and later at its current home at Aribau 19, in the Eixample, a modernista building from 1895. It's one of the flamenco dance academies in Barcelona and combines dance with singing, guitar, palmas and cajón; singing classes are taught by cantaora Miriam Vallejo.
It also teaches sevillanas, tablao, castanets and bata de cola, with the styles Alegrías, Bulerías, Soleá, Siguiriya, Tientos and Tangos. Classes, in Spanish, range from beginners to specialisation, with small groups and a dedicated programme for children; the venue is accessible for people with reduced mobility.
