Instituto Flora Albaicín, in Sant Gervasi, describes itself as the oldest working flamenco dance school in Barcelona in the world, with more than 65 years of history. It was founded by bailaora Flora Albaicín, who continues the legacy of her mother, also called Flora Albaicín, and her own method is recognised by the Cátedra de Flamencología in Jerez de la Frontera with the National Flamenco Award.
The course runs from September to July, with the beginners level on Tuesdays from 20:00 to 21:00 and intensives from 29 June to 10 July; there are also online classes via Skype taught by Flora Albaicín herself. Classes, held in the school's own premises with changing rooms and showers, are in small groups, in Spanish and English, and bring in live guitar alongside singing and dance.
